Enclave Frederick

Enclave Frederick occupies The Firehouse, a converted brick fire station at 12 West Church Street in downtown Frederick's historic district. Eighteen private offices sit alongside a coworking and breakout lounge, a kitchen and coffee bar, phone rooms and a conference room. Offices are private and lockable with 24/7 access via the Enclave access app, and are let unfurnished so members can fit them out to suit the way they work. Wi-Fi, utilities and cleaning are included in the monthly rate, along with two hours of conference-room time each week.

Private offices in The Firehouse, downtown Frederick

Enclave Frederick is inside The Firehouse, an 1846 building on West Church Street renovated in 2018 that still carries THE FIREHOUSE across its parapet. It sits a block from Winchester Hall, City Hall and the Frederick County Courthouse, and steps from the shops, cafés and restaurants of North Market Street. Behind the black "enclave coworking" sign are eighteen private offices, a breakout lounge, a kitchen and coffee bar, phone rooms and a conference room.

The offices here are let unfurnished. In Enclave's own words, they "leave them unfurnished so you can set the space up however you want" — so plan for desks and chairs, or ask the team, who can sometimes help with furniture. Almost everything else is in the rate: Wi-Fi, utilities, cleaning, 24/7 access through the Enclave app and two hours of conference-room time each week.

Seven of the eighteen offices are available, from $1,000 a month on a one-year agreement, and every one of them has a window. They are genuinely small, single-room offices — 73 to 123 sq ft, or roughly 7 to 11 m², comfortable for around two to three people.

Look for the black "enclave coworking" sign hanging above the entrance. It is one block from Winchester Hall, City Hall and the Frederick County Courthouse.

Usually not. Enclave leaves its offices unfurnished "so you can set the space up however you want and make it your own". They can sometimes help with furniture if you need it — worth asking before you sign. This is unusual for a flexible workspace, so budget for desks and chairs.

Your office is private and lockable, with 24/7 access. Wi-Fi, utilities, cleaning, phone rooms, conference rooms, coffee, tea, snacks and the shared workspace are all included.

Available offices at Frederick run from $1,000 to $1,100 a month on a one-year agreement. They range from 73 to 123 sq ft (about 7 to 11 m²), and all seven of the available offices have a window. Two-year agreements are around 10% cheaper. Enclave is currently advertising 50% off the first year on a 24-month commitment, and a first month free on a 12-month commitment — check the current terms with them directly, as promotions change.

How to get there?

Enclave Frederick sits in the middle of the downtown Frederick historic district, a walkable grid of 19th-century buildings that holds more than 200 specialty shops, galleries, breweries, distilleries and restaurants. The Firehouse is on West Church Street a block off North Market Street, downtown's main run of cafés, bars and independent shops, and one block from Winchester Hall, Frederick City Hall and the Frederick County Courthouse — useful if your work brings you to any of them. The Weinberg Center for the Arts is around the corner on West Patrick Street, and Carroll Creek Park, the landscaped canal walk that threads through downtown, is a short walk south. Frederick station on the MARC Brunswick Line serves the city, and downtown's public garages sit within a couple of blocks.
