Where Mainyard began, on Wallis Road
90 Wallis Road is where the Mainyard Studios community started, founded by Hackney Wick locals Remi and Tori, and it grew in 2017 to take in the neighbouring buildings at 92 and 94. You will know it by the huge painted mural on its front wall. Inside, former dye-cutting and print factories have been turned into canal side workspace in the Hackney Wick Creative Enterprise Zone, between the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Victoria Park.
The buildings mix private, lockable offices and creative studios with around ten soundproofed music studios and production rooms. Some of the self-contained studios suit photography and fashion design, and residents are free to fit out their space with their own kit, rails, lights and gear. For those who prefer to work alongside others, there is an open-plan coworking room with high ceilings, plenty of natural light and views in every direction.
Number 90 Bar & Kitchen sits on the ground floor at 90 Wallis Road, so there is a bar and restaurant on the doorstep for lunch, drinks after work or meeting a client. Mainyard is an independent, family run business founded in 2012, and the place is built around a working community of makers, musicians, designers and small business owners.
